Ok so how funny is this -- A-Rod is coming back. He came to us... check out his statement I'm quoting from http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/arod.yankees/index.html?eref=T1

Alex Rodriguez Statement
After spending time with Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization.Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs, I wanted the opportunity to share my thoughts directly with Yankees' ownership. We know there are other opportunities for us, but Cynthia and I have a foundation with the club that has brought us comfort, stability and happiness. As a result, I reached out to the Yankees through mutual friends and conveyed that message. I also understand that I had to respond to certain Yankees concerns, and I was receptive and understanding of that situation.Cynthia and I have since spoken directly with the Steinbrenner family. During these healthy discussions, both sides were able to share honest feelings and hopes with one another, and we expect to continue this dialogue with the Yankees over the next few days.

How hilarious is that?!?!? Dan says we look bad talking to him now, I disagree. He came to us and is willing to make up for the 21 mill we lost from the Rangers. I said myself don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. well let me be the first to say Welcome Home A-Rod, we could have done it without you but it will be nice to see you break records in the Yankee uniform! we are glad to have you on the hot corner!
also We offer a butt load of cash to Mo, now just waiting to see if he takes it!

Christmasy but...
Ok so the Grinch was on over the weekend. My absolute favorite of all Christmas movies. I also got all my shelves cleared for my Christmas stuff to begin to go up. Dan asked me the other day what i want in terms of lighting. I explained I wanted the entire roof outlined. AND I told him my awesome idea of painting the light post white so when we put out red rope light around it we could make it look just like a candy cane. While the rope light idea will happen the white light post will not. I was told I'm not allowed to do that. We also cleaned out the garage enough so that I can actually put my car in there. Just imagine how much room there will be when they come and take away the two love seats. As right now we have two weeks that are not hunting season we are trying to organize some stuff around the house and get ready for the new furniture. We begain leaving Mickey upstairs as she behaves better up there. You would think she would be worse but go figure. Last night we went to Wal-Mart for some much needed groceries and assorted things and going through the Christmas area I was starting to get excited to decorate our house this year. But then I started wondering if Jeff and Jamie will be home for Christmas and if they are will Jeff be about to go treeing or letting people come to tree there? (for those who don't know or aren't from Elk County, Treeing is going to visit at Christmas time to see peoples "tree" hence the term.) It can be very hard to be cheerful at times like this. But I will take a page from my mother (as tough as that is to admit) and make sure we still have Christmas. My mom buried her mom right around Christmas (Christmas Eve maybe, Em do you know?) and always made Christmas a huge thing for us. Made sure it was about celebrating new life. She actually always overdid Christmas but in a good way, our 11 foot real tree so full you couldn't walk by it. She still does with buying my sister and I tree hangings. I also am excited because Jamie and Jeff's baby is on the way and getting closer every day. It is hard to focus on the positive when there tends to be so much negative, but sometimes thats the only way to keep moving forward instead of falling backward. Talk about a deep though there.
On a side note. We signed Jorge Posada today 4 years 52 mill. He will be a lifetime Yankee.

Hank Steinbrenner quotes!
OK all in the turmoil that is Yankee Universe right now. New Manager, we alienated one of the greatest Yankees EVER in Donnie Baseball, no more A-Rod, AND George Steinbrenner's son Hank becoming my new favorite quotable in Yankeeland. I am pulling these quotes from the NY Times baseball section.
On A-Rod-- "It's a shame, but we are all in agreement: myself, my dad, my brother, all the baseball people," he said. "If you don't want to be a Yankee and paid what you're being paid, we don't want you, that's the bottom line. You'd be hard-pressed to argue that point. If you don't understand the magnitude of being a Yankee and understand what that means, and being the highest-paid player in baseball, I think it's pretty obvious."
"I don't understand Alex's point of view, Of course, he had hinted many times the past two years that he had questions about staying a Yankee. I guess he was serious. But being paid what he would have been paid, you would think at the same time there would be pride in being a Yankee."
"I mean, come on, Every ex-Yankee I've ever talked to says the same thing: 'Are you kidding me? Everybody wants to be a Yankee.' And it's not the cheap Yankees, either. It's the Yankees who will pay whatever we have to pay. But when he opts out, that is telling us he doesn't want to be a Yankee."
On the new manager-- "This is not Iran, Everybody needs to relax. We will have another fine manager. We've got a lot of top prospects, and that's going to bode well for the Yankees for the next 10 years, hopefully. Everybody needs to relax and enjoy what's to come."
and these are just from the last week! I can't even find my favorites about Torre!!
How much am I loving Hank Steinbrenner?!!
I hate that Donnie is leaving but I do understand his point and I think Girardi will do well, but man did we just pull another Yogi?!?! I hope not, Don Mattingly is THE YANKEE of my childhood and I want him to have a championship in pinstripes.
On to my personal A-Rod feelings- I hated when we got A-Rod, yes I enjoyed him this year, but I always thought he was too needy. This year not so much. I actually believed his "I can't believe I played for 2 other organizations, this feels like home" I was willing to embrace him. We were going to offer him a BUTT -LOAD of cash. He wouldn't even sit down with the Steinbrenners! Then to say "Alex didn't know the direction the Yankees are going in and wated to give himself the time." (not exact quote but)
PLEASE- if he had even waited 12 hours he would have known the Yankees new manger. And HE HAD 10 DAYS AFTER the WS to make this decision. The opt-out was still available to him until NOVEMBER 7.
So when taking all this into account I say So long A-Rod, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out

Well we are back to our normal work schedule which means blogging confined to Tuesday and Thursday unless I do it at home! We did get a victory against O-E on Friday. My brother had a good game. Had a fantastic run called back... but I digress. Dan went and put up his tree stands on Saturday (archery season approaches) I cleaned the house and talk to Christine while trying to ignore the Penn State game. They played like crap! Sunday was interesting, Steeler Sunday at the Wilson home. Nancy and Denny came right after half time with the dogs. Mickey wants so badly to be their friend but Maggie would just have nothing of it. She was such a bitch, she ended up biting Mickey in the lip which upset Mickey so they started to fight a bit. Denny took Maggie down to Shirley's to get her away from Mickey. Then after the game, Dan was in charge of Mark's dog Otto (since they were having a family day at the Steeler game) Dan brought Otto down. They were hilarious. Mickey and Otto played and played then Otto tried to hump her. Poor Otto was just nervous though. A strange guy picked him up from him house and took him somewhere else where he didn't know anyone. I made Dan take him home ofter they played for 45 minutes and Otto refused to lay down. I think thats all going on in the Wilson household at this time.

FIRE
As it turns out, there was a fire in the Smith home. Their garage door opener shorted out, the hot plastic dripped on the seat of Luke's 4 wheeler. The seat caught fire which then melted the gas tank which spilled gas that ignited. THANKFULLY all the damage was contained to the garage. The insurance agent told Luke that if the FD hadn't gotten there for even 5 minutes it would have been much worse. The rest of the house just has smoke damage. Figures... just when you think you can relax...Tonight is Homecoming for Burg. They play O-E so hopefully we can get a win!

Lack of Sleep
Did you ever wake up and feel like something wasn't right? Like you overslept or something? Last night Mickey woke us up with her barking. As I'm laying there falling back asleep, I feel something isn't right. There is too much light outside and Mickey isn't back in bed. So I get up. There are flashing lights and fire trucks everywhere. I do not remember hearing and sirens. Turns out there was a fire in our neighborhood and unfortunately as far as Dan and I could tell it was our good friends the Smiths. I texed Brandi this morning and they are ok, but I will call her after work. I had a hard time going back to sleep after we knew at 4 am it was their house. I had the strangest dream too. Goober was sleeping in bunkbeds at our house and Luke called Goober's phone from Brandi's phone and was telling me what happened but I couldn't hear him because Nicole, Rich, and Mark were making too much noise. Dan had a dream that it was a cigarette ash. I hope everything gets sorted out and they didn't lose anything of value both sentimental and monetary.
